I've seen the baby a7's like those too. I think the same guy built them. clearly an Altec lover.

The first set I ever saw, Altec had made some for their reasons, and somebody figured out a 405 would fit. A fellow on eBay was building them at one point.

I saved some pictures from a pair of A7's also from Japan that use the 405-8H. I would love to have a pair of these.

My Altec computer speakers - Original Altec salesman's sample in as found condition. Original drivers were long gone and they are now loaded with Tang Bang W2-835SL 2" full range drivers. They are wired L & R stereo and provide quite a bit of bass as is but are coupled with an Altec computer speaker sub to provide the real low end.

Yup, those salesman speakers are pretty cool as well. I just happened to save some pictures of an eBay auction of one of those specimens.I try to save lots of pics & literature.They came with a little Multicell horn on top. IIRC it sold for around $250 -$300
